5-Amino-1MQ · How it works
Blocking NNMT
NNMT, nicotinamide N-methyltransferase, is an enzyme that sits mostly in fat cells and the liver. It takes nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3, and tags it with a methyl group so it is flushed out in the urine. In obesity, NNMT is turned up high in fat tissue. 5-Amino-1MQ fits into NNMT's active site and blocks it, so that drain is shut.
