Ara-290, Cibinetide
In people
When people with small fibre nerve damage take Ara-290 at 4 mg a day for 28 days, burning and electric pain ease and daily function improves. The corneal nerve fibres, which mirror the nerves in the skin and gut, grow back measurably within the 28 days. Skin samples show more growing nerve tips. People with type 2 diabetes see their HbA1c and cholesterol improve along with their nerve symptoms. It is very well tolerated, with no change in red cell count or blood pressure. The gains often continue for weeks after the course ends, as the nerves keep regrowing.
