Bacteriostatic Water
What it is
Bacteriostatic Water for Injection is sterile, non-pyrogenic water carrying benzyl alcohol at 0.9 percent or 1.1 percent as a preservative, at a pH near 5.7. It is supplied in a multiple-dose container, built for repeated withdrawals to dissolve or dilute a powder. In the peptide world it is the default mixing liquid, because one vial of powder is usually drawn from many times.
