Botulinum Toxin
What it is
Botulinum toxin type A is a large bacterial protein, an enzyme in two chains joined by a disulphide bond, dried under vacuum into a single-dose vial of 50, 100 or 200 Units. It is one of seven toxin types A through G, and type A is the one used in practice because its effect lasts longest. BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, Botulax, Nabota, Meditoxin and the Russian Relatox are separate products made by separate processes, and their Units are not the same currency. It is placed into muscle by a trained injector who has chosen the muscles and the depth.
