Botulinum Toxin
In people
Nothing happens on the day. Over three to seven days the chosen muscle gets quieter, with the full picture in about two weeks, and then it holds for roughly three to four months before movement returns and the lines come back as they were. People describe the feeling as a lightness or a slight heaviness in the treated area rather than numbness, since sensation is untouched: you feel everything, you simply cannot pull as hard. The most common things reported on the cosmetic label are a drooping eyelid in about three in a hundred for frown lines, headache in about nine in a hundred for forehead treatment, and some swelling at the eye. In the jaw, chewing feels weaker for the first few weeks and people notice they have stopped waking with a tight jaw. Repeat sessions through the year are what hold a result, and the interval is set by the clock of the nerve rebuilding, not by preference.
