Cagrilintide · How it works
Stomach emptying and glucagon
Amylin slows the speed at which the stomach empties into the bowel, so sugar from a meal enters the blood more slowly. It also holds back glucagon after meals, so the liver does not add extra glucose on top of the meal. Together these flatten the after-meal sugar curve. People with diabetes make too little amylin, so cagrilintide replaces a signal they have lost.
