Cagrilintide
What it is
Cagrilintide is a once weekly amylin analogue. Amylin is a 37 amino acid hormone that beta cells in the pancreas release together with insulin after every meal. It tells the brain you have eaten enough, slows the stomach and holds back glucagon. Natural amylin lasts minutes and clumps into fibres. Cagrilintide is engineered to stay soluble and to bind albumin, so one injection carries the fullness signal for a week.
