Cerebrolysin · How it works
Growth factor mimic
Its peptides act like BDNF, NGF, GDNF and CNTF, the proteins nerve cells need to survive and branch. It shifts the balance from proNGF, which pushes cells to die, toward mature NGF, which keeps them alive. Cholinergic neurons, the memory cells lost first in dementia, recover their numbers. The peptides cross into the brain because they are small.
