Dermorphin · What it helps
Pain at the end of life
The case made for revisiting this molecule rests here: where pain is severe, constant, and the usual opioids are failing or demanding doses that flatten a person, a spinal route with a molecule this potent and this long-lasting changes the arithmetic. Less drug, placed better, for longer, with less of the whole-body burden. That is the argument two authors put in 2018 for bringing it back. It remains a specialist palliative question, decided and carried out by a pain team.
