DSIP, Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide · How it works
Reaching the brain
DSIP is small enough to cross the blood-brain barrier, shown in rabbits as early as 1977. It acts on GABA and glutamate signalling and on neurons in the hippocampus. Russian work used it to protect the brain after stroke, where it improved speech and communication. It is a brain-protective peptide as well as a sleep one.
