GHRP-2 Acetate · How it works
The ghrelin receptor, GHS-R1a
It binds GHS-R1a, the ghrelin receptor, on pituitary somatotrophs and on GHRH neurons in the hypothalamus. The receptor switches on Gq, phospholipase C and IP3, which releases calcium inside the cell and pushes stored growth hormone out. In the hypothalamus it also releases more GHRH and quiets somatostatin, the brake. Ghrelin, the stomach's hunger hormone, is the body's own key for this lock.
