Glutathione · How it works
Liver detox, phase II
Glutathione S-transferases in the liver attach glutathione to toxins, drug breakdown products and heavy metals. That makes them water-soluble so they leave in bile and urine. Paracetamol overdose kills liver cells exactly when this glutathione runs out. A full glutathione pool keeps phase II detox running.
