FSH on the Sertoli cell

FSH binds its receptor on Sertoli cells, the nurse cells that line the sperm tubes. The receptor raises cAMP and switches on androgen-binding protein, inhibin B and the growth factors that feed developing sperm. Without FSH, sperm production stalls at its early stages. HMG supplies the FSH the pituitary is not sending.
