HMG, Human Menopausal Gonadotropin · How it works

LH on the Leydig cell

LH binds its receptor on Leydig cells between the tubes and drives them to make testosterone. That keeps testosterone inside the testis many times higher than in the blood, which sperm production needs. It also keeps the testes from shrinking. In women, LH drives the theca cells that make the raw material for oestrogen.
