Follicles in the ovary

In women, FSH recruits and grows ovarian follicles and switches on aromatase in granulosa cells to make oestrogen. The LH part supports the theca cells and the final ripening of the egg. This is how HMG drives ovulation induction and IVF stimulation. In women it is used daily under scan monitoring.
