Steroid stress, illness and dieting all break muscle down. In rats on dexamethasone, IGF-1 variants with the long-R3 design kept muscle protein and body weight far better than plain IGF-1. The analog shields lean tissue when the body is in a breakdown state. That is useful in a hard cut or recovery from illness.
