In fertility treatment the final signal that ripens eggs is normally a hormone that lingers for days and can overstimulate the ovary dangerously. Kisspeptin-54 does the same job by asking the woman's own pituitary for one clean LH surge that then stops, which is a gentler trigger, and the Imperial group built that use. It also works as a probe: giving it and watching whether LH answers tells you whether a person's GnRH neurons are alive, which separates a hypothalamic fault from a pituitary one.
