LL-37, Cathelicidin · How it works
New vessels and wound closure
LL-37 binds the receptor FPRL1, now called FPR2, on blood vessel lining cells. That makes them multiply and form new vessels. Blocking LL-37 in wounds slows healing. It also makes skin cells migrate across a wound.
