LL-37, Cathelicidin · How it works
Calling and tuning immune cells
LL-37 calls neutrophils, monocytes and T cells to a site through CXCR2 and FPR2. It binds bacterial toxin, LPS, and calms the inflammatory storm it would cause. It also helps immune cells sense DNA and RNA from dying microbes. So it both summons defence and limits damage.
