LL-37, Cathelicidin · What it helps
Airways and lungs
The airway lining makes LL-37 as its first defence. Macrophages in the lung use vitamin D to make it against tuberculosis and other germs. Low vitamin D leaves the lungs short of it. Restoring it supports defence against chest infections.
