Mazdutide · How it works
The oxyntomodulin design
Mazdutide is modelled on oxyntomodulin, a 37 amino acid hormone that L cells in the lower gut release after meals. Oxyntomodulin naturally switches on both the GLP-1 receptor and the glucagon receptor. It lowers food intake and raises energy use, and its levels climb after bariatric surgery, part of why that surgery works. Mazdutide copies that dual signal in a form that lasts a week.
