AMPK, the fuel gauge

MOTS-c blocks the folate cycle and the purine pathway in muscle, which builds up AICAR, a natural AMPK activator. AMPK then switches on fat burning and glucose uptake. Skeletal muscle is the main target. The cell acts as if it has just exercised.
