Melanotan I, MT1 · What it helps
Tanning without the ultraviolet dose
A normal tan is damage repair: light injures DNA, the cell signals for pigment, pigment arrives after the harm is done. Afamelanotide supplies the signal directly, so colour develops with far less light exposure, which is what the original Arizona work measured. Darkening appeared in both poor tanners and good tanners and peaked one to three weeks after dosing ended. Separating the colour from the light is the whole idea.
