NAD+ · How it works
The CD38 drain
CD38 is an enzyme on immune cells that breaks NAD+ down. Its level rises with age and with low-grade inflammation, and it is a main reason NAD+ falls over the years. Restoring NAD+ refills the pool CD38 empties. Calming the inflammation behind CD38 keeps the refill from leaking away.
