Oxytocin Acetate · How it works
Heart, vessels and pain
Oxytocin lowers blood pressure and heart rate and shifts the nervous system toward rest and digest, through the vagus nerve. It raises the pain threshold through the spinal cord and the brain's own opioid system. Repeated release keeps these effects for days to weeks. It is the body's built-in anti-stress chemistry.
