PT-141, Bremelanotide · How it works
Dopamine and desire
When MC4R fires in the medial preoptic area, it releases dopamine there, the chemical of wanting and seeking. That raises sexual interest and the drive to seek out a partner. In female animals it raised solicitation, the active pursuit of a mate, without changing other behaviour. It turns up the wanting, not just the physical response.
