Retatrutide
The story
The idea of one peptide for three hormones came from Matthias Tschoep and Richard DiMarchi, whose 2015 triple agonist cured obesity and diabetes in rodents; Russian endocrinology journals reported that work the same year as a new direction for metabolic medicine. Eli Lilly built on it with LY3437943, published by Tamer Coskun in 2022, tuning the molecule to lean hardest on GIP, then glucagon, then GLP-1. Arun Sanyal then showed in 2024 that it clears liver fat almost completely in most people with fatty liver. Russian reviews in 2025 by Shestakova and colleagues place it at the front of the incretin future, the step after tirzepatide.
