It starts at 0.6 mg a week for 4 weeks, then steps up every 4 weeks to 1.2 mg, 2.4 mg, 3.6 mg and up to 4.8 mg a week, reaching the working dose over about 16 to 20 weeks. It runs as one continuous course of 9 to 12 months.
Dose calculator
Change any box to work out a different amount.
How it works: strength per mL = vial strength ÷ water added. mL to draw = dose ÷ strength per mL. Units on a U-100 insulin syringe = mL × 100 (1 mL = 100 units). Doses per vial = vial strength ÷ dose. 1 mg = 1000 mcg.
